The issuance of green bonds, which are fixed-income financial instruments used to finance projects that have positive environmental and or climate benefits, were negatively impacted by the pandemic in 2020. However, it recovered in 2021, surpassing pre-pandemic levels and posting an increase of 116.9% from $3.1 billion raised in 2019.
